Some Card’s operate on the basis of a frequently changing code: a user who wishes to Login must enter his own user ID and the current code displayed by the card. An alternate system uses a cryptographic calculator, where the user logs into a system, which displays a challenge string. The user keys this string into the Card, which prints a response. The response is used as the user’s password for the Login Session.
Robust enough to resist intensive usage and extreme climates, polycarbonate is the most reliable and secure material for IDs. It is now available with a color photo thanks to the Gemalto(Thales) Color Laser Shield card solution.
The polycarbonate identity documents are more resistant to humidity, heat, and aging. This plastic with unique marking and durability properties makes it possible to achieve much higher reliability and security rates than materials used in the past.
